CrO 2 adopts the rutile structure ( as do many metal dioxides ).
2.
"' Zinc fluoride "'( rutile structure containing 6 coordinate zinc, which suggests appreciable ionic character in its chemical bonding.
3.
At 10MPa pressure and 250-400 C In ( OH ) 3 converts to indium oxide hydroxide, InO ( OH ) ( which has a distorted rutile structure)
4.
In all minerals, one aluminium ion is always in six-fold coordination by oxygen; the silicon, as a general rule is in four-fold coordination in all minerals; an exception is a case like stishovite ( SiO 2, an ultra-high pressure quartz polymorph with rutile structure ).
5.
There are also vanadates, such as rhodium vanadate, RhVO 4, which has a statistical rutile structure where the Rh 3 + and V 5 + ions randomly occupy the Ti 4 + positions in the rutile lattice, that do not contain a lattice of cations and balancing vanadate anions but are mixed oxides.
